Rajiv Girhotra joins Business Standard as Regional Head

Rajiv Girhotra has joined Business Standard as Regional Head. He took charge from April 5, 2010. Prior to joining Business Standard, he was with Indian Express, where he was heading the International Business division. In his new role as General Manager (North & International), Business Standard, Girhotra will be responsible for ad sales revenues for the leading business daily from Northern India as well as international markets. He will be reporting to Sachin Phansikar, Vice President - Sales.

Pratham Books’ ‘Social publishing strategy’ and Hindustan Motors’ ‘The great driving challenge’ were adjudged the best social media case studies at the IndiaSocial Case Challenge for the long term and short term categories, respectively. The first edition of IndiaSocial Case Challenge saw some excellent work done by organisations in the social media domain. The case challenge, an initiative of IndiaSocial, was undertaken in association with impact and blogworks.

Monetisation for Twitter finally; set to begin advertising

Twitter is busy with various expansions plans, including the creation of a media hub that would allow the platform to partner with media companies and explore ways of impacting viewership. Twitter is working with Nielsen to make sense of how tweets can impact the eyeballs of a programme. However, amidst all this action, the big announcement from the company is of its revenue model. It is understood that Twitter is looking at advertising and revenue sharing models to monetise its numbers. An announcement is expected on April 13, 2010.
