Media brands report card Pitch Media BrandOmeter topline out; Star Plus pips Colors, Special Interest emerges favourite

The hues of Colors seem to be fading and Star Plus has emerged this year as the favourite of media planners and buyers in the Hindi GEC space, according to the second edition of the annual Pitch Media BrandOmeter study. On the other hand, Special Interest channels seem to be performing better than any other genres. In this report, we take a look at how TV channels in India have fared in the last one year.

The television industry had an action-filled week. First, the I&amp;B Ministry directed Colors and Imagine to change the timings of &lsquo;Bigg Boss&rsquo; and &lsquo;Rakhi ka Insaaf&rsquo; to a later slot. Then, Colors challenged the Ministry&rsquo;s directive in court and got a stay on the order. While these developments raise quite a few questions, one cannot help but compare a similar scenario, including Star Plus&rsquo; &lsquo;Sach ka Saamna&rsquo; last year, and wonder why the Ministry issues different directives for the so-called &lsquo;adult&rsquo; content.

Effies 2010: Shortlist announced; Ogilvy India, Lowe Lintas, Mudra score highest in shortlists from India

A total of 81 entries for the Effies Awards 2010 have been shortlisted from the 276 entries received this year. From India this year, Ogilvy India, Lowe Lintas and Mudra have scored the maximum entries in the shortlist for Effies 2010. It may be noted that the total number of entries received this year is nearly double that of last year (148 in 2009).
