Cannes Lions 2008: 33 Indian entries in Press shortlist and 5 in Radio

The Press Lions and Radio Lions have brought more cheer for Indian agencies. There are 33 Indian entries that have made it to the Press Lions, with Leo Burnett having the highest with eight shortlisted entries; O&M and Cheil have five each; JWT India has four; McCann Erickson and Saatchi & Saatchi, three each; and Grey, Contract and Mudra, one each. There are five Indian entries shortlisted for the Radio Lions: three from TBWA\India and two from Mudra.

R3’s Greg Paull in India amid resistance from AAAI to third party surveys

Greg Paull, Principal, R3 Asia Pacific, is arriving in India today on a four-day visit to iron out the agency’s path in the country. R3 is a consultancy focused on improving marketing efficiency and effectiveness. Paull’s visit comes at a time when AAAI, the principal body of advertising in India, had recently issued an advisory note to all its members against any new third party survey.

Close on the heels of some key elevations at Turner Entertainment Networks, there is now news about a few goodbyes too. Vivek Krishnani, Executive Director Marketing, APAC, has put in his papers. It is also learnt that Bikram Dugga, Marketing Head, Cartoon Network and Pogo, India, and Karan Sethi, Marketing Manger, Cartoon Network-South Asia, have also called it a day at Turner Entertainment Networks Asia.

Cannes Lions 2008: Over 220-strong Indian delegates at Festival this year

The Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival 2008 began on June 15, and it is bigger than the previous years – at least in terms of the Indian delegates that have travelled all the way to the South of France to attend the Festival this year. From the 130 last year, the number of Indian delegates this year has gone up to 225-plus. Quite a few Indian delegates were seen on the first day of the Festival.

Cannes Lions 2008: New mediums, old problems

The first day of the 55th Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival saw a host of speakers deliberate on the new avenues that are making their way in the media landscape. The topics varied from contextual video advertising to more on the web and to what it means to be a media communications company. While clearly newer mediums are coming up, all speakers reasserted the need for knowing the consumers and focus on relevance.
