The mantra suggested by the experts was to up the creative quotient while embracing newer technologies. The event, which the experts say is a great learning tool for advertisers, agencies and production houses, showcased some of the finest pieces of work produced in the world.

Licenses have converted to operational stations for major FM players

Radio FM players are wasting no time in making their national presence felt. Radio City has launched in all the 20 cities that it had licenses for. Radio Mirchi, too, has completed its rollout with all 32 stations going operational by February 2008. Big FM has only Shimla to launch, following which all 45 stations would be done with that. My FM, which had 17 licences, too, has completed it rollout process.

Now, Mallya bats for rival teams

Vijay Mallya has ensured that his brands do not fall out of Indian Premier League (IPL) viewership, though his team Royal Challengers (RC) Bangalore bowed out of the tournament. After RC's series of defeats, the UB Group chairman decided to cash in on his smaller investments in rival teams such as Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Daredevils, Chennai Superkings and Mumbai Indians.

Noreen Naqvi appointed Director General, Doordarshan

The I&B Ministry has appointed Noreen Naqvi as Director General, Doordarshan, on a temporary basis. She becomes the first female DG of Doordarshan. Naqvi was serving as Deputy Director General at All India Radio at the time of her elevation. She replaces LD Mandloi, who had been handling the additional charge of DG, Doordarshan, for the last two years.
