Advertising by Indian Domestic Airlines in Print (Jan-Aug 2007): AdEx study
Domestic and International airlines had a ratio of 51:49 in print advertising during Jan-Aug 2007. Indian Domestic airlines saw a decline of 8% in ad volumes during Jan-Aug ‘07 compared to Jan-Aug ’06. Maximum airline advertising happened in May 2007. The split between Newspapers and Magazines was in the ratio of 95:5. Deccan Aviation was the most advertised airline in Print in Jan-Aug ’07.
Star World plans broadbase programming for new season
Star World has lined up a series of new shows and new seasons for the month of October. Crimes series ‘The Black Donnellys’, offbeat comedy show ‘The Knights Of Prosperity’, a new sci-fi series ‘Eureka’ and detective drama ‘The Closer’ will be showcased as part of the channel’s new initiative to strengthen its performance.

The Indian Express Group has announced a dedicated Financial Express edition for the Pune market. The business paper had its presence in the city, but was printed and circulated from Mumbai, while lacking in exclusive content for the Pune readers. This special edition would be printed and circulated from Pune.
Gargi Kaul elevated to VP-Advertising Sales for Taj TV
Taj TV India Pvt. Ltd, the parent company of Ten Sports, has elevated Gargi Kaul to Vice President-Advertising Sales. Kaul will lead Taj TV’s national sales team, which markets sports channels Ten Sports and Zee Sports. Her previous designation was Associate Vice President-Advertising Sales for Ten Sports.

ILNA to bring language newspapers industry issues under the scanner
The Indian Language Newspaper Association (ILNA) is taking steps to unite the language newspaper industry in India. One of the first steps would be an AGM with the theme ‘Language newspapers – roles and challenges’ on October 3. One broad objective for the ILNA is to build language newspapers as a brand for the advertisers and the advertising agencies.
I&B Ministry issues show cause notice to Red FM for racist remarks
Hardly had the euphoria over Prashant Tamang being declared ‘Indian Idol’ died down when RJ Nitin’s comments on Tamang aired on Red FM set the hills literally on fire. The I&B Ministry has not taken too kindly to the comments and has issued a show cause notice to Red FM, giving the FM station time till 4 pm on October 1 to explain why action should not be taken against it.
AROI to create self-regulatory Content Code for private FM radio
The Association of Radio Operators of India (AROI) has announced the formation of an Advisory Committee for the creation of a self-regulatory content code for private FM radio broadcasting in India. AROI’s draft guidelines for the self-regulatory Content Code would be presented to the I&B Ministry-instituted committee for consideration while formulating the report on Content Code to the Government.
India Today’s Ravi Shankar joins Triveni Media as Managing Editor, Lifestyle
Ravi Shankar, former Managing Editor of India Today, has joined Triveni Media as Managing Editor, Lifestyle. He will be reporting to Rahul Kulshreshtha, CEO, Triveni Media, a subsidiary of Triveni Group, which is into infrastructure and real estate projects. The group is planning to come up with satellite channels soon.
