“This year has been challenging. However, we see that travel is becoming more and more a perennial product when you look at corporate and leisure travel put together. The sharp increases and dips in business due to season that existed two years, are now more rationalised. While leisure travel has been impacted by 10-15 per cent as compared to last year, corporate travel has been steady,” says Noel Swain, VP – Marketing, Cleartrip.

Bank of Maharashtra empanels agencies for Rs 60-cr biz

Bank of Maharashtra is in the process of finalising its advertising partners that would look after its creative, media, events and PR duties. Even though the client is still tight-lipped about the development, it is learnt that amongst the empanelled agencies are Lintas India that includes Lowe Lintas and Lintas Media Group, Rediffusion that includes Rediffusion Y&R and TME, Crayons and Goldmine. It is also understood that there are other agencies empanelled for the business too. The account size is pegged at Rs 60 crore.

India’s PR industry is still fairly nascent in terms of size and years of experience. We still have a vast majority of people who view the industry from the lens of the old model of public relations officers. Secondly, most agencies don’t typically invest the time and resources in understanding the business of their clients to be able to counsel and advise on strategic communications and how it can be leveraged to meet strategic goals. But we have seen a slow positive change of this perception.
