Intelenet Global Services Pvt Ltd has appointed Gayatri Balaji as Chief Operating Officer for its domestic BPO business for South India. Balaji will be responsible for managing operations and all support functions of the company’s centres in the region. Prior to joining Intelenet, she has held senior executive roles with companies like Standard Chartered Bank and Citibank. In her last stint, she was heading Clinical Data Management and Statistical Analysis at Tata Consultancy Services.

Deepesh Pandey and Manish Srivastava

Deepesh Pandey and Manish Srivastava have joined India Infoline as co-heads of the investment team for its Asset Management business, IIFL Capital. Pandey joins from Mirae Asset, Singapore, where he was Deputy CIO. Srivastava was a Fund Manager with Halbis (HSBC Global Asset Management), Singapore. Both Pandey and Srivastava have 13 years’ experience each in the Indian equity market. On the new appointments, Nirmal Jain, Chairman, India Infoline, said “In line with our strategy of building new businesses with leadership by people who are not only well experienced but have an unparalleled track record, we are very pleased to announce that Pandey and Srivastava have become part of our team for the asset management business.”

American Express Banking Corp (AEBC) has announced two senior appointments. Simran Kalra has been made Vice President, Product Management & Development, while Shanta Vallury Gandhi is Vice President – Acquisitions and Partnerships for India operations. These two new roles entail responsibility for providing strategic direction to further enhance the leadership position of American Express Consumer Card business in India. Kalra had joined American Express in India 15 years ago, and subsequently held several senior positions in the Asia Pacific and Australia region. Gandhi comes to American Express after a nine-year stint with ICICI Bank, where most recently she had held the position of Joint General Manager.

In India, the relationship between the client and the agency is somewhat casual because at times the agencies here neither get the required time nor the right budget that is needed to create and execute the idea. For example, some clients in India would buy a Rs 1 crore idea, but would want that idea to be executed in just Rs 30 lakh. But in America, the agency would ask the client to reconsider and come back with a new idea that fit the budget.
