AMO Communications wins Mobell Mobile’s handset business

Following a multi-agency pitch, AMO Communications (a Percept Hakuhodo company) has been assigned the creative duties of Mobell Mobile’s handset business (a brand partnered with Salora International Ltd in India). The multi-agency pitch process began two months ago and many leading agencies had vied for the business. The account will be handled out of AMO’s Delhi office.

Aarati Kakkad

After the addition of Karan Rawat, Grey Mumbai has brought on board Aarati Kakkad as Creative Director – Copy. Kakkad will work with ECD – Copy, Rohit Malkani. Kakkad began her career at Concept Communications as a trainee, writing copy for brands like Onida. She moved on to Enterprise Nexus (Bates India) and worked on The Times of India, Femina, NECC and ICICI credit cards accounts before joining O&M, where she spent five years working on campaigns for Vodafone, Emirates, Kotak Mahindra Insurance and DHL. After a short stint at Leo Burnett working on brands like Whisper and McDonalds, Kakkad has joined Grey Mumbai. She has also won significant recognition for her work on Vodafone, including a Gold at the Effies for the Vodafone Alerts Campaign; a Silver Abby for Integrated Campaign for Hutch Small, Medium & Large, among other awards.

On completing 25 years, the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) played host to a seminar on ‘Marketing Responsibly’ where one of the key discussions were that of Marketing Responsibly to Children. The panel for this topic of discussion included Geeta Dharmarajan, Bejon Misra and Ricardo Fort of Coke with Arvind Sharma of Leo Burnett playing the moderator for this session.

Another appointment in Rediffusion Y&R is that of Gautam Talwar as Executive Vice President of New Business Development and Projects. Talwar will be based in Mumbai and will report to Mahesh Chauhan, Group CEO. Prior to this, he was with Kaleidoscope Entertainment Pvt Ltd as Creative and Business Head. He began his career with Grey and serviced businesses like Johnson & Johnson, Diageo, Elf, Akai, and Cadbury Schweppes, among others. He then moved to Ammirati Puris Lintas, where he serviced the Unilever hair franchise before becoming the strategic planner on Fair & Lovely and PSI (Population Services International) for whom he developed the Balbir Pasha campaign. He then moved to handle the Unilever business for Lowe for the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region.

Digital is the fastest and most efficient way to activate conversation. If you want to be present in every minute in the lives of the consumers, then digital is the way to do that. Digital is so overwhelmingly present right now that it is difficult for somebody to reject that. Having said this, television, too, it is going to have a great year in 2010 and 2011. I do see the trend continuing and I see that the embracement is far more widespread now than it was a year ago.
