Nick India, Zapak Games in merchandising deal for ‘Roary, the Racing Car’

Nick India has tied up with Zapak Games to announce the launch of ‘Roary, the Racing Car, one of the most popular shows on Nick internationally as well as in India. The channel has launched a range of 23 variants, including eight different types of racing cars such as push along vehicles, friction cars with sound, Roary toolbox playset, and Roary RC, among others. This range is priced from Rs 399, going up to Rs 5,999. This range will be available in all leading retail stores.

The Walt Disney Company in India has named Raju Venkataraman as Vice-President and General Manager of the newly named Disney Media Distribution. Disney Media Distribution (DMD) is the new business name for Disney-ABC International Television – the integrated media distribution arm of the Walt Disney Company. In his new role, Venkataraman will report to Mahesh Samat, Managing Director, The Walt Disney Company India Pvt Ltd. Venkataraman was in charge of Business Operations for Disney Channel in South East Asia prior to taking up the Channel Distribution mandate. He has 22 years of experience in a variety of industries, both in India and in South East Asia, and is a Fellow Member of CIMA, UK.

ZO’s Equinox entrusted with Mitsubishi portfolio; ac size Rs 30 cr

Equinox, a division of ZenithOptimedia, has been assigned the media duties for Mitsubishi’s portfolio in India, including Outlander, Lancer, Cedia, Pajero and Montero. The win comes on the back of a multi-agency pitch. Senior sources close to the development have confirmed the win and pegged the account size at Rs 30 crore. Contract Advertising remains the creative agency for Mitsubishi.

ICC ropes in Ogilvy Mumbai as advertising partner for World Cup 2011; biz worth Rs 250 cr

It is known from sources close to the development that International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to go with Ogilvy Mumbai to handle the 360-degree advertising for World Cup 2011, which is slated to be jointly held at three venues – India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. It is learnt that the communication was sent to agencies via email by ICC. The account size is estimated to be upwards of Rs 250 crore.
