Coca-Cola India has announced the national launch of Limca Book of Records Quiz 2010. The multi-city initiative is being launched in partnership with ‘Know & Grow with Derek’ and involves participation of young students from classes 8 to 12. As part of the initiative, a series of quiz competitions are being organised in 3,500 schools across 100 cities. The quiz competition is divided into four zones – North, South, East and West. The quiz is being organised in three stages – Inter-school level, Semi-Finals and National Finals, from April to December, 2010. Derek O’Brien, renowned quizmaster and founder ‘Know & Grow with Derek’, will host the National Finals.

RK Swamy BBDO Mumbai has won the creative duties of CMS Computers following a multi-agency pitch. Senior sources close to the development have confirmed the news. So far, the advertising for CMS Computers, which was established 20 years’ back, was being handled in-house, and this is the first time that the company has hired an ad agency. The pitch was called for in February 2010 and involved two rounds of presentations.

The jury for the D&AD (Design & Art Direction) Awards 2010 has been announced. Naren Multani, Creative Director – Films, McCann Erickson, South Asia, is the only Indian among the 25 specialist juries for the D&AD Awards. He has been invited to judge the TV & Cinema Craft category. The Pencil winners will be announced at an Awards ceremony to he held in London on June 3.

The Festival of Media Awards 2010 was announced at a ceremony in Valencia on April 20, 2010. The Awards were spread across the global media agency networks, with the likes of Havas, MediaCom, VivaKi and OMD winning Jury Awards. Indian agencies won no awards at the Festival this year. However, MediaCom India’s work for Gillette got two High Recommendations, and Mindshare India’s Lux Perfect Bride received one High Recommendation at the Festival.

The last session at the Festival of Media 2010 should make media service brands concerned. Diageo’s Global Media Procurement Director, Kester Fielding, was speaking on the ‘true value of media’ and stated that media agencies were having the same conversations today that they did a decade ago. He said that the perception of media service brands and their business models had not changed.
