International: Big Four Broadcasters Join to Fund Ad Effectivness Survey
The four largest TV broadcast networks, which no longer have a trade association because they prefer to operate autonomously of one another, have banded together to sponsor a survey to assuage marketers' fears that their advertising is less effective now that consumers can use digital video recorders to time-shift their programs and skip the ads.

The Cable and Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia (CASBAA) has strengthened its team by bringing in eight new members. The new members include two regionally powerful pay-TV platforms, Austar of Australia and Orbit of Dubai; and two sports TV networks, Taj TV (Ten Sports) and Eurosport Asia, among others.

IAB grants membership to newly formed FM operators’ body, backs demand for allowing news
The Asociación Internacional de Radiodifusión (AIR) and International Association of Broadcasting (IAB) have granted membership to the newly formed Association of Radio Operators of India (AROI). IAB has also written a letter to the I&B Ministry demanding to allow hardcore news on Indian private FM radio stations.
DLF appoints Concept Communications as advertising and PR advisor for its Rs 10,000 crore IPO
Delhi-based DLF Group, India’s largest real estate developer, has awarded the mandate for all communication needs of its forthcoming IPO to Concept Communications. The account size is pegged in the region of Rs 30 crore. DLF Universal Ltd is coming up with one of the largest in India IPOs in June-July worth Rs 10,000 crore to fund its pan India expansion plans. The group is also venturing into the hospitality sector.

It means our programming has to be more interactive and involving, maybe even more than just programming. Who knows, in the next five years it may not even be a standard television show any more. I don’t want to predict the future here – Ridley Scott has done a good job of that few years ago – but I think that the whole dream of the Internet that started and died is back, and if the government of India can give us broadband a little quicker, it might even keep on living.
