The concluding session of Day one of the Indian Magazine Congress 2009 saw a lively discussion on ‘Licensing magazine brands in a new world order’ among magazine brand custodians both from the licensee and licensor sides. WWM’s Tarun Rai moderated the session while the panelists included Sandra Gotelli of Arnoldo Mondadori, BBC’s James Hewes; Mike Greehan of Cueball, and Xavior Collaco of Media Transasia.
The session on ‘Digital Strategies for Magazines’ at the Indian Magazine Congress (IMC) 2009 discussed threadbare the future of magazines in a digital era, with a clear consensus emerging in the panel that an offline and online can co-exist and magazines can efficiently exploit digital to their advantage.
Watch out, the slowdown is not over yet, cautioned industry experts at panel discussion on ‘Post Recession Strategies for Sustainability’. Presented by telecom firm SingTel in association with the Network18 Group, the event brought together some of the best thinking hats in the industry – KPMG’s Rajesh Jain, Doordarshan’s Aruna Sharma, SingTel’s Titus Yong, Homeshop18’s Sundeep Malhotra, exchange4media Group’s Anurag Batra and Times Group’s Mohit Jain.
The third Return on Investment seminar, jointly hosted by ZenithOptimedia and its sister concern Solutions | Digitas, in the capital on September 1, emphasised on the growing importance of digital or new media platforms like the Internet, mobile and social media and how to make the most of this new media.
Media accountability also came under the scanner at the fourth exchange4media Conclave, held in Mumbai on June 4, 2009. The eminent panel comprising Ajit Varghese, LV Krishnan, Nandini Dias, Ronita Mitra, Sanjay Tripathy and Shantonu Aditya, debated the growing trend of marketers rushing to accountable media platforms like online and radio, especially during times of slowdown. The session was chaired by PV Narayanamoorthy.
